BAK'D COOKIES

Brand refresh and e-commerce re-design for Vancouver's largest cookies.

COMPANY CONTEXT
BAK'D Cookies is a brother and sister duo company, born amidst the pandemic, which has flourished into one of Vancouver's beloved cookie shops, cherished for its quality, innovation, and familial charm.
PROBLEM
With a new storefront on the horizon, BAK'D sought a rebrand that encapsulated their playful ethos while embracing growth and expansion. Their visual identity, rooted in approachability and warmth, channels the playful chaos of baking with unique forms, cute hand drawn characters and vibrant-witty energy.
PROBLEM
Throughout the design process, the BAK'D team recognized that the original logo's trio of colors and dimensionality made it identifiable. However, it lacked depth, dynamism, and was difficult to translate into secondary assets.I aimed to maintain the original logo's recognizability while increasing its complexity and creating a new symbol for BAK'D. The idea of expanding forms resonated with me, reflecting both the process cookies undergo in the oven and BAK'D's growth as they open their first storefront. I wanted to evoke a sense of objects trying to fit within a tight space, pushing outwards as they expand. The secondary point of identification was the cookie apostrophe. Through the logo explorations there needed to be a semblance of a cookie in some way.
ILLUSTRATION SYSTEM

Creating a mascot for a secondary brand asset.

The client wanted a brand that felt cute and approachable to moms and businesses, with a touch of contemporary style to appeal to younger adults.

The result was an illustration system that was designed with a cookie mascot as the focal point that could be used on prints, menus, graphics and other fun things.

The goal was to see how far we could push into a streetwear style without losing the friendliness
and approachability aspect.
